Happy September! As we move into the fall, I notice that I am beginning to feel an urge to spend as much time outdoors basking in the weather before it gets cold. As I write to you, I am outdoors at Whole Foods (after completing an outdoor yoga class)- one of my favorite ways to start the day. However, I have learned that regardless of what I choose to do first thing in the morning- the most empowering way to kick start my day is to exercise my mind.
Although I have a sense of structure to my day, I prefer them to be more spontaneous by what feels right for me in the moment. I dedicate half of my mornings during the week to physical exercise (yoga and running) and the other half to a mixture of morning coffee, meditation, and time spent being present and sharing thoughts with my partner. These activities and time spent just be-ing help me to ground myself for the day.
Before beginning my work, I head over to my bookcase (which is full of all of my favorite books), choose one book that stands out to me, and turn to a random page. Depending on the amount of time I have, I will read one sentence, paragraph, page, or several pages to exercise my mind for the day. Over the years, I have noticed that I am always divinely guided to read what I need most that day- I receive the perfect message to inspire me and organically help others find inspiration in their life.
How do you start your day? Are you inspired to accomplish your goals and dreams? If you find yourself needing a little inspiration, I invite you to exercise your mind for the next 30 days. I would love to hear from you on the comments below as you complete the 30 day challenge!
p.s. If you are looking for a new read, check out Dr. Lissa Rankin’s new book: Mind over Medicine. I had the opportunity to meet Lissa at her book launch in LA last month and she is amazing!
I love your Kickstart, Robin! Really great to read.
After reading about Wayne Dyer and Gabby Bernstein paying more attention to when the Spirit wakes them seemingly early in the morning, I began to pay attention myself. I have started to rise when this happens almost each morning at 4:30am to write! At first, I tried to ignore the prompt, thinking that I couldn’t possibly make it through the day, getting up that early. After all, I have three teenagers, a hubby and a full-time job! But now, I’m getting up and writing and trusting that the one that is urging me to rise is also sustaining me throughout my day. I’m gaining ground on a creative work that I never had time for and am thankful for that quiet time, when all others are slumbering.
Thank you for sharing, Melissa. It takes a lot of courage to listen to divine inspiration! I wish you continued success on following your heart and creating your dreams. <3
With love,
Robin
