This past weekend, while adventuring with a friend to Enchanted Rock, I was struck by the feeling beneath my feet. In that moment, I was just putting one foot in front of the other. Just stepping along feeling free, clear and fully open to life.

I thought to myself how we often feel the need to hold onto control in every aspect in our lives. We get in our heads and analyze each obstacle we face. We make excuses for the things we wish to do, but feel might not go our way. I don’t have enough money to chase my dreams, I’m too tired for that networking event, or too busy to see my friends. It’s too hard. Too long. Too tough.

We set ourselves up for failure before failure is even an option rather than embracing each moment. Often times when we think to much, we allow our minds to sway us in a different direction that our hearts are trying to lead.

Fear of failure will always trump excitement for success. But walking across the dirt paved rocks, I could see just how beautiful it is when you simply let things grow. Enchanted Rock was not made by “what ifs” and “but whens.” It was created by nature giving space to let beauty form.

When we get out of the daily grind, there is so much freedom to experience. Our minds can open to inspiration and creativity. I encourage you to step into life and each moment. Be the best you there is and ask yourself:

  • Is there something you have made harder than it needs to be?
  • Are you passing up opportunities?
  • Are you listening to your heart?
