What was your first thought this morning?

Do you normally wake up making a list of all that you need to do? Do you make time for reflection and prayer? Or do you tune into what you really want to do – what lights you up?

As I have just expanded both personally and professionally into the Denver area, I have created a new morning ritual. Back in my hometown of Austin, my experience of the city is often fast-paced and busy. I’ve learned to bring that pace into balance. When I arrived in Denver, I embraced the opportunity to choose how I would begin my days.

Earlier this year, while training for a half marathon, I discovered the power of movement. I found that running not only tapped into “the zone” that many athletes talk about, but it shifted the energy in my mind, body, heart and spirit. I noticed that as I built more strength and endurance in my body, similar to a waterfall, that strength flowed into my whole being. Here in Denver, I’m beginning to explore my mornings with mountain activities, allowing the waterfall to awaken within. The air is clean and crisp, you can feel the grounding of the mountains and the beauty surrounding you is incredible. There is an energy of peace that starts my day off in a powerful way.

I invite you to experiment this month with creating a morning ritual that starts your day off in a great way. What choice can you make today to awaken to all the beauty that awaits? I would love to hear what you find in the comments below!
