Sitting cross-legged on the floor. Drop cloth below me, brushes beside me, and space to create my intention. Growing up, the child version of me was constantly creating. In time, that creativity vanished. Consumed with grief, overwhelmed with college courses, and in complete denial of the talent within. Well into my adult life I gave art another shot. Just before Valentine’s Day 2011, allowed myself the opportunity to create what had been trapped inside.
What followed was a whole new level of understanding.
Ever since I’ve used art to express myself, I have experienced a new-found sense of freedom. HeartArt was built off the notion of allowing a relaxing place to create art in a supportive atmosphere and help others find their own sense of power as well.
Each class begins with a group meditation, in which we will release fear and open to the inspiration within. By giving ourselves the opportunity to listen, we can begin to fully understand the blocks that are holding us back.
It is then that we will take the feelings to the canvas. HeartArt gives your heart and hands the free will to create what your mind will attempt to control. The canvas is your playground, and your soul the divine power behind it all. Your task is to simply show up.
